Residential Project Opportunities

Please note this section is for GOLD AWARDEES only.

From time to time there are Residential Project opportunities that come to me. As they do I will add them here for Gold Awardees to consider.

Regular Projects

Regular projects that students at Northpine have completed in the past:-
  1. STORMCO trips to different outback towns and overseas.
  2. Summer Camps at Somerset over the Christmas holiday break
  3. South Queensland Big Camp held at Waston Park in September


Residential Project:

The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award (the Award) participants in Queensland have the opportunity to partake in the Chrysalis International Young Leaders Conference with multiple positions available (scholarships available). This conference is held over 1 week and could be counted as an approved Residential Project for Gold Award participants.

The Chrysalis International Young Leaders Conference is a leadership program that includes educational, interactive and hands-on activities in a multicultural environment. The conference is a unique opportunity for students to learn about leadership skills and network with other likeminded young people from diverse background and cultures.

Conference details:

·         Dates – Saturday, 27 July to Saturday, 3 August 2019.

·         Venue – International Education Services, 433 Boundary Street, Spring Hill Brisbane Queensland 4000.

·         Cost – Approximately $2,300 including academic programs and workshops, mentoring, accommodation, meals, airport pick-up and drop off (if required), daily transportation, field trips and recreational activities. Travel to and from Brisbane, if required, is not included.

Application process:

·         This program is available to high school students from Year 9–12 from around the world.

·         Approximately 40 positions are available at the conference (20 available to domestic students)

·         To apply for a position at the conference, participants must complete the attached application form and return to with the relevant attachments (as outlined in the application form).

·         Applications close on Friday, 26 April 2019. 


·         Silver and Gold Award participants have an opportunity to apply for a sponsored position at the conference. Two applicants will receive sponsorship to cover the program costs ($2,300). This does not include travel related expenses to and from Brisbane.

·         All Gold Award applicants will be assessed for the sponsored positions.

·         Eligibility for the sponsorship will be at the discretion of the Chrysalis Program Coordinator. 

Please note if you are a Gold Award participant and you wish to apply for sponsorship to attend the conference for your Residential Project, please ensure that you specify this in your application.
